James L. Hoyle is a 1997 graduate of Loyola University School of Law and licensed to practice law in Illinois since 1998.
In 2016, James finished his third term as McDonough County State's Attorney. He served as State's Attorney from 2004 until 2016 and his office produced record statistics during his tenure. As State's Attorney, James handled thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases. You will not find a defense attorney in Central Illinois with as much knowledge and experience with criminal law, the court system, law enforcement procedures and contested court proceedings. Since 2016, James has represented clients through Hoyle Law Office and has handled numerous Class X felony cases, Murder, Attempted Murder, numerous weapons violations, Home Invasion, Criminal Sexual Assault and an incredible amount of DUI cases.
Prior to serving as State's Attorney, James was a general practitioner and litigator for 6 years. His practice focused on criminal law, traffic law, civil litigation, family law, municipal law and collections.
James served 8 years in State Government prior to and during law school. He served two years as an Administrative Law Judge and Prosecutor for the Illinois Secretary of State, Department of Administrative Hearings. Prior to that James was the Assistant to the General Counsel of the Illinois Secretary of State for four years.
